Research topics
Since the beginning of my work within the CNRS, my research has focused on environmental dynamics, from a multi‑temporal perspective (integrating both the short term, over the last century, and the long term since the Neolithic) and a multi‑scalar perspective, ranging from the archaeological or phytoecological site to the geo‑complex.
My current research activities, under the general theme “Anthropization, Environmental History and Contemporary Dynamics”, are structured around three main sub‑themes:
My current research activities, under the general theme “Anthropization, Environmental History and Contemporary Dynamics”, are structured around three main sub‑themes:
- “Mountain anthroposystems: long‑term dynamics and spatial reconstructions.” Deepening the history of Pyrenean agro‑sylvo‑pastoral areas over the long term. Approach to contemporary and past dynamics through three specific perspectives: pastoral burning management in the Pyrenees; mining, metallurgy and charcoal‑burned forests; history and dynamics of Pyrenean fir forests.
- “Diachronic analysis and landscape management.” Development of landscape observatories, by deepening both the methodological approach and data collection, and by using this work to address social and institutional demand regarding landscape issues (collab. Ariège Regional Nature Park and Pyrenees National Park).
- “Protected areas”: research on current developments in protected areas in France, particularly with regard to landscape issues.
