PALEOPYR : PYRENEAN PALEO-environmental data management database

Managers : F. MAZIER et E. LERIGOLEUR

Sedimentary records collected from lakes or peat bogs provide invaluable information for reconstructing past environments. For example, the pollen grains and spores preserved in these sediments make it possible to identify the main stages in the evolution of vegetation, and to better understand the impact of human activities on ecosystems over the last millennia.

Numerous paleo-environmental data have been acquired on the North Pyrenean slopes over the last 30 years. The PALEO-environmental PYRENEAN database, BD PALEOPYR, centralizes and secures the metadata and raw data (pollens, non-pollen micro-fossils, micro/macro-charcoal, lithology, etc.) associated with the fossil sequences and surface samples studied at the GEODE laboratory.

The mapping portal PALEOPYR gives access to the available metadata for each sediment record: sampling date, type of site and data acquired (C14 dating, pollens, etc.), photos, publications, contact person, etc.
