Research topics

Reconstruction of the history of vegetation and fires in the Landes de Gascogne region using palaeoecological data.
  • Supervisor : Marie-Claude BAL (UMR 5602 GEODE)
  • Co‑supervisor : Florence MAZIER (UMR 5602 GEODE)
The objective of the FIRELANDES project, within which this thesis is situated, is to better understand and project future interactions between climate and fires using palaeoecological data (macrocharcoal and pollen) and models capable of capturing a larger part of the natural variability of ecosystem flammability in three identified zones (north, centre and south of the Landes de Gascogne).

Keywords: Palaeoecology, Forest Ecosystems, Fire Regime, Climate Change, Modelling
